One of the concerns related to hot dogs or other cylindrical food products is the diameter and/or size of a normal bite-size piece. Often characterized as an “American tradition”, the hot dog is a staple food product at picnics, sporting events, and campouts. It is one of the main food offerings in many entertainment activities such as baseball, for example. The hot dog is eaten in almost every household and in many public events. ![]() The present invention generally relates to a device for slicing wieners thereby enhancing the appearance of the hot dog and reducing the size of the bite-size portions. A food utensil comprising: a hollow body having an inner wall forming an interior and an outer wall, an open first end and a closed second end, and, a plurality of grooves each longitudinally extending from the first end to a corresponding plurality of points approaching the second end a plurality of blades extending across said interior and the utensil of claim 1 further comprising a food receptacle removably attached to said first open end for holding a food product. On August 23rd, the Georgetown University YouTube channel posted a video titled "Is a Hot Dog a Sandwich?" (shown below). On May 27th, 2016, the dictionary site Merriam-Webster published a blog post asserting that hot dogs could be considered a type of sandwich. On December 31st, Redditor WhackAttack submitted a post titled "Is a hotdog a sandwich?" to /r/NoStupidQuestions. On November 30th, comedian John Hodgman and The Sporkful podcast host Dan Pashman debated the topic at the Bellhouse in Brooklyn, New York (shown below). The following day, Redditor Cock_Son_of_a_Beach submitted a post titled "A hotdog is a sandwich" to /r/changemyview. On November 7th, the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council announced that was not a sandwich. On July 8th, comedian Hannibal Buress posted a tweet arguing that "a hot dog has all the qualities of a sandwich." The tweet was subsequently deleted. So, yes, they likely are sandwiches, but only in the same sense that benches are also chairs."
